Science for Policy: From Evidence to Action
|
Science for policy is the process by which information is transferred from the scientific community or individual researcher to policymakers with the intention to produce evidence-informed policy. Almost every legislative action, regardless of the topic or government level, has a scientific component to it. While policies are not made by science alone, it can help decision-makers more accurately assess the benefits and potential consequences of the different options available.

Mission |
Over the last 5 years there has been a growing interest in evidence-informed policy within Europe. While there are some introductory materials for scientists wanting to engage in policy, there are still insufficient resources explaining exactly how they can meaningfully contribute and successfully communicate their expertise.
This website aims to expand on these existing materials by providing a deep dive into science for policy topics and practical tips that outline how researchers and scientific organisations can contribute to, and meaningfully support, evidence-informed policy. It also offers individualised advice for scientists and their organisations via consultations, workshops, and science-policy translation services. Similarly, it provides services for policymakers who would like to better understand the relevant scientific evidence by connecting them with the appropriate experts and contextualising the necessary information. If you have any questions or requests, please don't hesitate to get in touch. |
Science-Policy TranslationScience-policy translators can help bridge the gap between the academic and policy communities by relaying key information in a way that is accurate, contextualised, and useful. This service is beneficial for both scientists and policymakers More information here.
Science for Policy WorkshopsThis week-long workshop will give scientists an in-depth overview of the European political system and the pathways that researchers can take to engage in European decision-making processes. More information here.

Science for Policy ConsultingScience for policy consulting can help researchers and scientific organisations to: discover the policy areas most relevant to their research, outline key actors and drivers, build meaningful relationships, and create an engagement strategy based on individual needs. More information here.
Science for Policy Deep DivesThis blog provides information and insights that will support researchers and scientific institutions in effectively engaging with decision-makers and the policymaking process. More information here.

We, policymakers, need more than support from scientists. We need constant cooperation to develop evidence-based policies |
